5 self-care rituals to romance yourself with this Valentine’s Day

Roses. Chocolates. A beautiful dinner painstakingly prepared for that special someone.

Whilst the month of love is often all about showing your significant other just how much you care, we think that one key aspect is missing: Self-love.

This year (because, let’s be honest, we deserve it!) we encourage you to commit some time to self-care over the Valentine’s period. Whilst that will look different for everyone, here are some ideas to get you started with romancing yourself…

Take a detoxifying soak

Get your candles. Put on your favourite relaxing playlist or audio book. And treat this bath as though it’s one that you’re running for a lover!

Get intentional with the products that you use, focusing on soothing the muscles and relaxing the mind. We love MOA’s Dreamy Mineral Soak as the perfect way to find calm. Himalayan Pink Salt leaves the skin refreshed and hydrated, whilst lavender and cardamom work to de-stress your entire body.

Pair this with your face mask of choice and you’ll be feeling loved-up in no time!

Indulge in a face mask

Talking of face masks, whether you’re having a bath or not, these are a great way to not only nurture the skin, but to signal to the brain that it’s time to relax for a few moments.

We offer a whole host of wonderfully sustainably options, but here are a few of our favourites for all things self-care…

Evolve’s Bio Retinol Gold Face Mask: The epitome of luxury, this gold-coloured formula firms, hydrates and plumps the complexion.

Five Dot Botanics’ Pure Rewind Restorative Mask: A pared-back formula perfect for stressed out skin. This mask removes impurities and softens.

TRUE Skincare’s Purifying Matcha Tea Face Mask: A non-drying blend that is comfortable to wear, whilst also working hard to detox the skin.

Find a meditation practice that works for you

We all know that meditation has countless mental and physical benefits. However, you don’t need singing bowls, a fancy yoga mat or an expert level of control over your breath to reap its rewards.

All you truly need is you and somewhere relatively quiet (easier said than done in lockdown, we know!)

Head to YouTube and find a guided meditation that resonates with you. We particularly enjoy this self-love themed session with Yoga With Adrienne.

Write a love list

Just as you would write a card to that someone special in your life, take some time during the month of love to write yourself a love letter! Or at least a love list…

Sit down in your cosiest PJs with your favourite candle burning nearby and simply list everything that you love about yourself. Whether it's physical or emotional, this is a great way to snap yourself out of negative self-talk and to focus on self-care instead.
